Abstract:
In this paper a contrast study is made of the physical characteristics of acid pollution laterite by laboratory tests, including grain composition, specific gravity and boundaries moisture content, considering the influence of dispersing agent and salt-leaching. The results show that without dispersing agent and salt-leaching, the silt content decreases with lower acid concentration but increases with higher acid concentration. With the extended curing time, the silt content decreases with lower acid concentration, but decreases, then increases with higher acid concentration. Silt content decreases after salt-leaching, but increases without dispersing agent. The specific gravity, liquid limit and plastic limit, plasticity index of acid pollution laterite decrease with accrescent acid concentration and extended curing time. The changes in physical characteristics oft acid pollution laterite are the combined result of corrosion stage, salt-forming stage and dissolution stage.
