Abstract:
Along the main canal of the Eastern Route of Shandong section of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project occur aquifers of Quaternary unconsolidated sediments, fissured-karst aquifers of carbonate rocks, fissured aquifers of clastic rocks and cranny aquifers of magmatic rocks metamorphic rocks. The first two types of aquifers are of huge void for water storage and surface water and groundwater conjunctive regulation are carried out. Nine regulation and storage sections can be divided along the canal. Priority should be given to sections with strong storage capability and good storage conditions such as Jining, Dong’e, Yantai, Lai-Long-Peng and Muping sections. Ji’nan, Zibo, Weifang and Qingdao sections are of strong storage capacity but poor storage condition, and require auxiliary water diversion projects. The subsurface storage amount along the canal can be estimated as 20.4756× 108m3.
