Abstract
Soil erosion of exposed loess slopes in construction of engineering projects is examined in this paper. In order to further study the damage effect of raining splash on compacted loess slope, the splash depth and the change in pore size with time are observed by simulating tests of the single splash erosion and the splash failure law of compacted loess under the two factors of surface compaction degree and raindrop velocity is analyzed. The impact of compactness and moisture content on the splash erosion of loess is studied. The relationship between rainfall intensity and soil splash damage is also analyzed. The results show that when there is shallow flow in the splash pits, the short duration rainfall is easy to damage the shallow layer soil. On the contrary, the second splash is produced, which is the main factor of deeper failure of the loess embankment.
