Parameters of Duncan-Chang model for hydrostratigraphic units in Shanghai City

Abstract
Many soil samples were acquired from different hydrostratigraphic units in Shanghai City.Drained consolidated triaxial tests were performed.Based on the tests,the parameters in Duncan-Chang model for the units in Shanghai City have been obtained and the change in the parameters has been discussed.The test results indicate that the value of k for clays is smaller than that for sands,whereas the value of kur/k for clays is greater than that for sands.The value of kur/k range within 4~10 for clays and 2~7 for sands.The value of k is closely related to the value of internal friction angle φ and increases with φ in exponential function approximately.The failure ratio Rf often changes between 0.70 and 0.85.And nur/n is nearly not related to n and n often changes within 0.5~1.0.
