Increase and decrease in salinity of the shallow groundwater in Cangzhou

This paper discusses the salinization processes of groundwater(non-marine saline origin) in the eastern part of the Hebei Plain by analyzing the historical water-level and water-quality data of observation wells.The results indicate that change in Cl~-concentrations in selected wells depends on the local geological environment.Based on initial Cl~-concentrations in saline groundwater, the decrease in salinity shows a dilution or mixture with the infiltrating fresh water.
