A modified Terzaghi’s method on soil arching in piled embankments

The key issue in piled embankments is the load ratio between pile and soil,which is greatly dependant on soil arching theory.Based on Terzaghi’s soil arching theory,a modified method is introduced through the revision on boundary condition,lateral pressure parameter and deformation.In this model,the soil arching height is 1.4(s-a) and the lateral earth pressure parameter is dependant on the deformation.The new method is used to calculate 2 cases,the computed results keep good agreements with mea...
