Characteristics and preliminary analyses of the formation of pH in shallow groundwater in the Pearl River delta

More than 2,000 groundwater samples were detected in situ for pH in the Pearl River Delta.The results show that water acidification is the most prominent problem in the groundwater environment.Acidic groundwater accounts for 76.3% of the total area.Distribution of pH in the shallow groundwater is of obvious regional characteristics.In the hilly areas,pH in groundwater ranges mostly from 5.6 to 6.4,while pH varies mainly between 6.4 and 7.2 in the plain regions.Due to the influence of acid rain,p...
