Formation and kinematic characteristics of the debris flow disaster at the Sanyanyu gulley,Zhouqu County of Gansu Province

Debris flow occurred in the early morning of October 8,2010 at the Sanyanyu Gulley and Luojiayu Gulley,Zhouqu County in Gansu Province has been the most destructive debris flow event in China since 1949.In this paper,characteristics of the debris flow in Sanyanyu Gulley are analyzed in terms of its formation conditions and kinematics based on a site investigation immediately after the disaster.It is found that initiation of the debris flow was in the middle reach of the Sanyanyu basin,and that k...
